Our parents had a different set of problem~We are faced with additional challenges compared to those that faced our parents. When we were young and we were playing outside of the house, they were most likely worried that we could get hurt while playing, either scrape our knees or get sprained or they were worried that a stranger might talk to us and we will reply~Back in the days of our youth almost all play took place outside the walls and protection of our house where concerns about skinned knees and bruises ran rampant, at worst we might talk to a stranger. These are just some of the issues or parents used to face~Those are all things that our parents would be forced deal with back in the day. Now that we are parents ourselves, on top of these run of the mill problems, we now face additional worries whenever our children play online games~All grown up with families of our own we have (on top of the same problems our parents had) we have additional strain on us in the form of online video games. Online gaming usually offer two things that you might need to protect your child from~Playing games online leads to two major concerns that todays parents should be aware of. One is that some online games, since they offer anonymity, can be accessed by pedophiles and can talk to your child~Firstly because the online gaming world is virtually anonymous you can never know if it is a bad person talking to your kids who may want to do them harm. Second is that griefers, also known as cyber bullies, can target and can make your chilled extremely miserable~Secondly we need to be aware of “griefers” or in layman’s terms cyber bullies who can make children’s online experiences bad.

Online gaming usually has a chatting option wherein our little one can chat with others~Playing video games online brings on the almost necessity of allowing people to talk to each other via chat. It is usually used to talk about strategy or barter items in the game but it can also be used to talk about non-game related stuff like TV or even about personal life~Mainly in strategy or barter based games talking is a huge part of the gameplay, but often talk spills over into the personal sphere. To protect your child form pedophiles and griefers lurking in online gaming sites here are some tips that you can follow before you go out and find~To ensure your childrens safety online here are a few basic tips that I would suggest implementing in your house to protect them from grifers and pedophiles alike, just do these before you go and find cheap halo wars or some other games:

1. Make sure your child understands~Ensure that your kids comprehend - If you are about to set rules or boundaries, make sure you set some time for you to explain why you are doing this~When your implement rules and boundaries on online gameplay be sure to let them know the purpose. Explain that its not that you do not trust him, its just that you are not very trusting when it comes to other people~Let them know that it’s not an issue of trust between you and them, but your skepticism of people online.

2. Relocate the computer~Move the gaming system - Make sure that the computer is in the kitchen or the living room area~Put games and computers in a public area of the house where you can easily supervise your kids while they are online. This will ensure that you can check up on the gaming activities of your child once in a while~It makes it a lot easier to oversee your kids gameplay when you ar earound them reglaurly. Also, if the computer is in a well trafficked area, your child will also be able to interact with people in the real world~Additionally having the system in a traffic area of the house the kids will be “forced” to interact with people in the real world every so often.

3. Educate~Teach - Tell your child to never give out the following information to people online~Ensure your kids know that there is information they can never share with anyone online:
a. Real name~True name
b. Contact details like address and phone number~Address or phone number
c. State~Location
d. Passwords~Passcodes
e. Credit Card Numbers~Social security numbers

4. Make sure that they use a pseudonym as a log in ID~Use a fake name while playing online as your login ID, not personal info.

5. Ignore~Turn The Other Cheek - Ignore both strangers and bullies online~Don’t talk to strangers or bullies on the net, just like the real world. Because if there are no responses, no matter how persuasive the stranger is, they will usually become bored and leave you~Strangers like this are looking for easy prey, if you just don’t respond they will go away after a few seconds.

6. Do not stoop to their level~Keep above those below you - Tell your child that if a griefer is very persistent to never attack him the way they tried to attack your child~Make sure your kids know two rights don’t make a wrong and should never retaliate to a bully. This will only make matters worse~Things only get harder as you reply.

7. Ask for help~Ask an adult - Tell your child that when in doubt, when they do not know what to do and when they are scared, to ask help from you~Let your kids know that if they are faced with social problems online they should always come to your first. Tell them that even if you are busy, even if you are not even at home, that they can call you up in the office or in your cell phone to ask help or to let you know what scared them~Let them know that you are never too busy for you and that they shouldn’t be afraid to come and ask or call you to discuss any complex issues.

Follow these tips before you allow your kids to go on the net and play games once you’ve gotten them~Keep all this in mind when your kids are engaged in online gaming and they should be able to stay safe cheap resident evil 5
